Français : Huile sur toile, H=110 cm ; L = 198 cm. Le tableau est choisi par Auguste Migette pour introduire son catalogue. Il fait partie d'une série de neuf grandes toiles consacrées à l'histoire de Metz. Il représente l'élection d'Almobert en 1055, premier maître échevin, devant l'ancienne basilique (à l'emplacement de la cathédrale St-Étienne). Sur la gauche on aperçoit les ruines d'un bâtiment romain à l'emplacement de l'actuel marché couvert, à droite la tour Charlemagne, et au fond les anciennes fortifications.
