English: Soviet commemorative 3 ruble silver coin (mass: 34.56g, mf: 900, diameter: 39mm, quality: proof) of Saint Sophia's Cathedral, commemorating 1000 years of Russian architecture.
  • Obverse shows the coat of arms of the USSR, the Russian text for "USSR" (СССР), a signature, the mass of silver in the coin in grams (31,1), the metallic composition and millesimal fineness of the coin (Ag 900), the coin's denomination of 3 rubles (3 РУБЛЯ), and mintage year of the coin (1988).
  • Reverse shows the Saint Sophia's Cathedral in Kiev, text "1000 YEARS OF ANCIENT ARCHITECTURE" in Russian (1000-ЛЕТИЕ ДРЕВНЕРУССКОГО ЗОДЧЕСТВА) on the coin's upper rim, text "SAINT SOPHIA'S CATHEDRAL · KIEV · 1037" in Russian (СОФИЙСКИЙ СОБОР · КИЕВ · 1037г. on the coin's lower rim.
Note: 1037 denotes the year in which the cathedral's foundations were laid.
