[edit]DescriptionCommander A.T.L. Covey-Crump (1).JPG |
Showing Royal Navy Commander Alwyn Thomas Lavender, Covery-Crump (1907–1991), a writer who recorded naval slang. This is taken from a newspaper photograph with caption: "HMS Ceylon visits Colombo. When the new colony class cruiser HMS Ceylon called at Colombo, Admiral Sir James Somerville, C-in-C, the Eastern Fleet, met the ship's officers. With him here are the Rev. J.C. Stephenson, chaplain; Pay Cdr A.T.L. Covey-Crump, R.N., accountant officer; and Cdr (E) J. Bartenshaw, chief engineer. The cruiser has been adopted by Dundee". Note: A full effort has been made to establish the identity of the photographer and any claim to copyright, via libraries, archives, books, collections, and online - but none has been found. |
