Description
English: New Holland CX820 combined harvester off Butterwick Road, a mile or so N.N.East of Barton-le-Street. The ground conditions were still very soft after weeks of rain, but the wheat seems to at least be still standing well. The machine has a chopper on the rear which reduces the straw to chaff and spreads it so widely that it practically 'disappears'. Traditionally the straw is baled for animal bedding but this does remove nutrients especially phosphate and potash which need to be replaced.
