English: Building in Columbus, Ohio.
"Harrison Elm and former Hawkes Hospital, Franklinton. The Kentucky troops under Governor Shelby were encamped on the mound on which the hospital stands. Photograph by F.H. Howe, 1892. The Harrison Elm was the tree under which General William Henry Harrison held a major conference with Ohio's Native American leaders on June 21, 1813. In the background is Mount Carmel Hospital. Dr. W. B. Hawkes donated the initial funds to build a hospital in the Franklinton neighborhood in 1885. When he died shortly thereafter, Dr. John Hamilton continued the project and saw the completion of the four-story brick building that was dedicated on July 16, 1886, as Mount Carmel Hospital. Dr. Hamilton was instrumental in convincing the Sisters of the Holy Cross in Notre Dame, Indiana, to staff the new hospital.
