Caption on image: Columbia St., Seattle

Shows Kenny Block (northwest corner of Columbia and 1st Ave) at left; White's Building (southeast corner 1st Ave. and Columbia St.) at right; horse drawn wagons on Columbia St.

Point of view is actually half a block west of First Avenue (then known as Front Street). The first building on the left is the first two stories of the Colman Building, which is still extant as of 2019 (with five more stories above). That means the next two buildings on the left are the Roxwell Block and the Haller Building; the "Kenny Block" referred to by University of Washington Libraries was the building on this site before the Great Seattle Fire of 1889. Similarly, closest on the right is Toklas & Singermann (now replaced, along with an entire block of buildings, by a multi-story parking lot) and then across First/Front are the Gottstein Block and then the Hickley Block.
