(b. ca. 1420, Perugia, d. 1496, Perugia) Annunciation 1455-60 Tempera on panel, 227 x 200 cm Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria, Perugia Bonfigli (also Buonfigli) was an Italian painter, active in Umbria. He trained under Domenico Veneziano and was influenced by Benozzo Gozzoli and Giovanni Boccati, amongst others. He painted beautiful faces; in total, however, he was somewhat cold and stiff in his composition. Amongst other things, he painted numerous standards for the guilds in Perugia.
