| Description |
The Nelson House in Yorktown, VA, is part of the Colonial National Historical Park. The house was built about 1730. It was the home of Thomas Nelson, Jr. (1738-89), Yorktown's most famous son and one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. During the Battle of Yorktown in 1781, the town was occupied by British forces. The house was damaged during the bombardment of the town. Cannon balls have been placed in the walls to indicate damaged areas. |
