Death of Colonel Freudenberg. Colonel Charles G. Freudenberg, U.S.A., died early this morning at the Portland Flats in this city, where he has resided with his family since last fall. He was a native of Germany, and entered the service In August, 1861, as captain of the Fifty-second New York, and became its lieutenant-colonel in November, 1862. He was wounded at Fair Oaks, and afterward was so severely shot at Gettysburg that he was transferred to the Veteran Reserve Corps and served until March, 1866. He was appointed captain in the Forty-fifth Infantry in July 28, 1866, and was retired in 1870, his rank being afterward increased to lieutenant-colonel.
