Colchester derivative - Polden Hill variant BOW BROOCH
Description
English: Copper alloy brooch fragment, Polden Hill variant with rear hook and folded over wing ends. Missing lower half of bow and pin. The spring has 12 turns. The wing ends folded around the axis bar are 5mm wide. The wings have moulded terminals (groove, spool and groove). The bow is oval in section but with flattened sides; on the front are two longitudinal narrow ribs flanked by grooves. Width 29.5mm, surviving length 20mm. Traces of white metal on the wings and bow front. Similar to Scole 1977 no.1 and Hacheston pub. no.77.
