Colchester derivative (rear hook) BOW BROOCH
Description
English: Copper alloy brooch, Colchester derivative rear hook type. Missing sproing/pin, one wing, foot, catchplate; very abraded and corroded. The wing has traces of moulding. The upper bow has a convex back and a rounded triangular front section and no surviving decoration; it changes angle and thickens slightly to form the lower bow/leg with a catchplate scar on the back. Surviving length 31mm, surviving width 13mm. Similar in profile and lower bow to an eg from Hacheston (publication no.76) and an unpublishe deg from Alderton, Suffolk.
