Colchester bow brooch fragment
Description
English: A Roman copper alloy bow brooch fragment. It is incomplete due to old breaks, and consists of the top of the bow and wings only of a Colchester brooch , rear hook type. The wings are 19.98mm in width, and are a shallow, semi-circular shape, with two lines of decoration on each. There is moulding on the top of the bow which is rectangular in section, with a small ridge where the rear hook begins, but is now missing . The brooch fragments measures 13.11mm in length and weighs 2.69g.
