Description
English: Copper alloy

Brooch. Fragment of a two-piece Colchester Brooch. Cast; semi-tubular wings with flat end-pieces retain an axis bar for a six or seven coiled spring whose chord passes through a rib at crest of bow. The flat tapered bow bears a medial rib flanked by convex mouldings and an outer rib along its edge. Abraded. Suggested date: Early Roman, 50-80.

Length: 23.2mm, Width (wings): 23.18mm, Thickness (crest of bow): 4.5mm, Weight: 9.91gms.
