Colchester 2-piece BROOCH
Description
English: Incomplete, cast copper-alloy Colchester 2-piece brooch. Wide semi-cylindrical side-wings which have moulded grooves at the ends with incised vertical lines at either side. The oval-sectioned bow is broken just above the half-way point. It has a flattened ridge, with grooves either side, running down the centre. The complete pin has a spring of twelve turns and is secured by passing the external chord and the axial bar through a lug with two perforations behind the head. The bow and wings have a white metal coating, the majority of which survives. Despite being incomplete, this brooch is preserved in an excellent condition. L. bow: 24 L. pin: 42 W: 27 Wt: 11.72g
