Description
Français : Coffin corner : mot-à-mot, « coin du cercueil » ; désigne la partie haute du domaine de vol des avions de ligne. Avec l'altitude, la portance décroit en même temps que la densité de l'air, et la vitesse de décrochage Vs augmente. Par ailleurs, la vitesse du son, diminuant avec la température, est une limitation pour un avion subsonique. Ceci tend à une réduction de la plage de vitesse.
