| Description |
English: Cock Inn, Oughtibridge. This view is taken from Forge Lane, looking up Cock Hill. Church Street is not shown but is the continuation of Cock Hill and meanders onwards and upwards to Bradfield and beyond. Just visible at the top of the hill is a part of Westnall House, sheltered accommodation. A Cock Horse, after which the pub is named, was a second horse, hitched to a heavily laden cart, to help pull it up a steep hill. When the cart reached the top of the hill, the Cock Horse was unhitched and brought back to its stable. 829371 |
