Summary
[edit]DescriptionCoat of arms within All Saints, Culmington - geograph.org.uk - 1442598.jpg |
English: Hatchment (19th c) in All Saints' Church, Culmington, Shropshire, to a member of the Johnson family, lords of the manor of Culmington. His wife's arms are blank, so he cannot be identified. Arms: Argent, a saltire sable on a chief gules three cushions or (Johnson) (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.545, "Johnson of Tyldesley, Lancashire"), with other variants substituting bends and crosses for saltires. Impaling ..... (blank/faded, not visible). Possibly woolsacks, not cushions, as blazoned for other Johnson families with similar arms. |
