Description
English: Coat of arms of independent Romania, as proposed by the Ministry of War. Never used anywhere. The main differences between this and the legal version (1872) are:
  • French shield
  • Golden helmet instead of royal crown, with mantling in Romanian national colors (red, yellow, blue)
  • Star of Romania Order below the shield
  • The lions have their tail on their backs, not between their legs, each one is holding a spear with the fanciful banners of Wallachia and Moldavia on top (they have the 1830 colors of the principalities and the traditional charges: the eagle and the aurochs, but they never existed)
  • The gules mantle is embroided with the golden coat of arms of Wallachia and Moldavia (an eagle, an aurochs), has a canopy and the Steel Crown of Romania on top
