Description
English: Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, is located on the southeast coast of the Persian Gulf. Dubai has recently attracted world attention through many innovative large construction projects. In recent years the city has become symbolic for its skyscrapers, in addition to ambitious development projects including man-made islands. The impact of these developments on the environment must be monitored, and the Copernicus free and open data can largely contribute. This image, acquired by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite on 13 May 2020, shows Palm and World Islands, two artificial archipelagos which aim to replicate respectively a palm tree and a world map. The Copernicus Sentinel missions support marine monitoring by providing data on the behaviour, the use, the health of the ocean and the associated coastal zones
