English: Seaman Richards signs the guest book for a traveling Douglas Munro exhibit that was provided by Dale Nitz, curator of the Veterans Living History Museum in Port Orchard, Wash., as part of a ceremony honoring Munro at the Laurel Hills Memorial Cemetery Sept. 27, 2016.
The ceremony is held every year around the anniversary of Munro’s death on the Guadalcanal, where he was mortally wounded while voluntarily evacuating a detachment of U.S. Marines under attack from a larger force. U.S. Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 3rd Class Amanda Norcross.
