Summary

English: Coarse sandstone beds dipping southwards Looking like sleeping dinosaurs these layers of coarse sandstone form a gently dipping pavement in which bedding planes are exposed and the vertical joints have been opened up in a manner more usually associated with limestone. The rock is coarse grained, suggesting that it was laid down in a high energy environment - possibly a flood - millions of years ago. The background shows the Afon Twrch following the dip slope across grid square SN7919 on its way to meet the Tawe near Gurnos. |
