Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Coal train through Crewe station, near to Crewe, Cheshire, Great Britain.

Most freight trains heading through Crewe use the avoiding lines (in a cutting / tunnel to the west of the station) so to see one on the "fast" lines through the middle of the station is unusual, more so as this one is running "wrong line", heading northwards on the southbound (up) fast line.

The class 58 diesel locomotives as shown here were relatively short lived, being introduced in the mid-1980s and withdrawn by 2001. They had proved unreliable. See <a title="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_58" rel="nofollow" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Rail_Class_58">Link</a><img style="padding-left:2px;" alt="External link" title="External link - shift click to open in new window" src="http://s0.geograph.org.uk/img/external.png" width="10" height="10"/> for details.
