Description
English: Coal Across the Taff 37279 brings a train of coal hoppers across the River Taff into Cardiff Station. The section of platform that I am standing on is also above the river, a fact that is not immediately apparent to the casual trainspotter! A number of things have changed since this photo was taken in 1981. The signal box behind the train (right of centre) has been demolished. The large building on the left, which is the Avana Bakery on Pendyris Street, has been demolished. A new building called The Bakery has been built on the site and provides rented accommodation for students. The small brick hut on the right remains.
