Français : Cette image MEB (microscopie électronique à balayage) représente un mélange co-continu de deux polymères incompatibles : le polyéthylène-co-octène et le polyoxyéthylène.
Le mélange n'est pas homogène car les polymères ne sont pas compatibles, ce qui donne lieu à des formes irrégulières mais qui percolent l'échantillon, d'où la notion de co-continuité. En plus de cette structure, il y a des gouttes d'un polymère dans l'autre. Image prise au laboratoire Ingénierie des Matériaux Polymères, rattaché à l'Université Jean Monnet de Saint-Etienne.English: This SEM (scanning electron microscopy) image depicts a co-continuous blend of two incompatible polymers : polyethylene-co-octene and polyethylene oxide.
This blend is not homogeneous because the polymers are not compatible. It leads to irregular shapes that percolate the sample, giving a co-continuity phenomenon. Additionnally to this structure, there are droplets of a polymer in the other one.
