Summary

[edit]
Description

Ruins of the fortress of Cluis-Dessous. Here, keep the twelfth century motte on the right and the castle chapel on the left.

Gatehouse with drawbridge of the fourteenth century. Enclosure of the thirteenth century and fourteenth fifteenth century home.

The fortress is on a rocky outcrop surrounded by Bouzanne on its western flank, which flows into river Creuse.

The fortress was situated on the border between the Kingdom of France and the Duchy of Aquitaine. The castle is one of the links in defense of confrontation during the first part of the Hundred Years War.

The various owners were families Cluis Chauvigny and Bourbon-Montpensier.

The fortress is now owned by the municipality. It should be noted that the restorations are discrete what is pleasing.
