English: The Gstaad Yacht Club was founded in 1998 by a group of sailor enthusiasts with the vision to "create a unique global yacht club away from the waters, instead of another local club by the waters". Based in the Swiss mountains and in the beginning, very often acknowledged with surprise, the GYC developed to a club with 400 members from over 30 different countries and to a place where members and their guests love to meet. The GYC supports sailing projects on all levels from juniors to professional sailors and it has become a solid force on the Swiss sailing scene and especially among Olympic sailing and classic yachts. Since the GYC launched its Racing Team in 2010, various club members have successfully competed in international regattas and in the Olympics. With the objective to support young sailors on their way to top sailing on an international level, the club currently boasts three members who aim for the next Olympic Games in Tokyo 2021. The Centenary Trophy is raced in a pursuit format with staggered starts, has been created and organized by of the Gstaad Yacht Club since 2011. The regatta, unique in its genre, is reserved to boats that are one hundred or more years old. The Centenary Trophy features an especially created and constantly refined handicap system, allowing very different boats in size and rig to compete on equal terms, and its format has proved extremely attractive for the sailors and the public alike. Français : Le Gstaad Yacht Club a été fondé en 1998 par un groupe de marin passionné avec pour mission de « créer un yacht club unique et global loin de l’eau et non pas un autre yacht club local près de la mer ». Basé dans les Alpes suisse, le Gstaad Yacht Club compte 400 membres de plus de 30 pays différents. Les membres et leurs invités aiment s’y retrouver.
Le GYC soutient des projets de voile de tous niveaux des juniors à des marins professionnels et il est devenu une force solide sur la scène de la voile suisse et surtout en voile olympique et yachts classiques. Depuis que le GYC a lancé son Racing Team en 2010, plusieurs membres du club ont participé avec succès à des régates internationales et aux Jeux Olympiques. Avec l’objectif de soutenir les jeunes marins en route vers la voile au niveau international, le club compte actuellement trois membres qui visent les prochains Jeux Olympiques de Tokyo 2021. Le Trophée du Centenaire est couru dans un format de poursuite avec des départs décalés, a été créé et organisé par le Gstaad Yacht Club depuis 2011. La régate, unique dans son genre, est réservée aux bateaux qui ont cent ans ou plus. Le Trophée du Centenaire dispose d’un système de handicap spécialement créé et constamment raffiné, permettant à des bateaux très différents en taille et en plate-forme de concourir sur un pied d’égalité, et son format s’est avéré extrêmement attrayant pour les marins et le public. Ab: Der Gstaad Yacht Club wurde 1998 von einer Gruppe Segelbegeisterten mit der Vision "Lasst uns ein einzigartige, globaler Yacht Club weg vom Wasser gründe, als ein weiter lokales am Wasser.» Der GYC war anfänglich mit Erstaunen als ein Klub in den Bergen ohne Wasser. hat sich zu einem Klub mit über 400 Mitgliedern aus über 30 Ländern entwickelt. Mit Segelprojekten auf allen Ebenen von den Junioren bis zu den professionellen Seglern und der Einführung der Centenary Trophy Regatta 2011 ist der Club zu einer bedeutenden Kraft in der Schweizer Segelszene und für klassische Boote. Seit das GYC 2010 sein Racing Team ins Leben gerufen hat, hat verschiedene Clubmitglieder erfolgreich an international Regatten und olympischen Spielen teilgenommen. Mit dem Ziel, junge Segler auf dem Weg nach Top-Segeln auf internationaler Ebene zu unterstützen, hat der Club derzeit drei Mitglieder, die nächsten Olympischen Spiele in Tokio 2021 anvisieren. Die Centenary Trophy wird in einem Verfolgungsformat mit gestaffelten Starts ausgetragen, seit seit 2011 vom Gstaad Yacht Club entwickelt und organisiert. Die Regatta, einzigartig in ihrem Genre, ist Booten, die hundert oder mehr Jahre alt sind. Die Centenary Trophy verfügt über ein speziell entwickeltes und neues ständiges Handicap-System, das es sehr unterschiedlichen Booten in Größe und Rigg ermöglicht, auf Augenhöhe zu konkurrieren, und ihr Format hat sich für Segler und die Öffentlichkeit gleichermaßen als äußerst erwiesen.
