| Description |
English: Clough Road Lift Bridges over the River Hull This is one of a pair of modern lifting bridges over the navigable River Hull. These days, they are rarely lifted due to the very small number of sizeable boats that use this section of the river. The single bridge at this point before these two were built, was a very narrow bottleneck and it rotated horizontally to allow shipping to pass. In those days, the river traffic was considerably heavier than now and it wasn't uncommon for that bridge to be closed to road traffic. |
