Description
English:

A wooden structure with people standing on it spans a river. Boards attached to the structure blocks the flow of water.

The Chequessett Neck Road Dike crossed the Herring River between Wellfleet and Griffin Island. The Herring River was closed off in 1909-1910 with the construction of this dike, impeding tidal exchange and was the driver of changing the natural ecosystem in this area.
