Closed type Thimble - Side view
Description
English: A complete, Post Medieval, cast, copper alloy large size thimble. This is a closed thimble with tapering sides and flat domed top. There are irregular relatively large and spaced out hand-punched indentations all the way down to a narrow plain band around the base. The thimble is rather corroded on a green/brown coloured matt surface. This thimble is likely to date to 1500-1599. Ref. The thimble measures 19.19mm long, 19.51mm wide, 1.48mm thick, diameter 19.51mm and weighs 5.9g.
