English: Clontarf Pelican with fishing hook take-off

How did Steve inspire you to share his passion. Well,
Steve died on 4th September 2006. Not only did Steve inspire me but Steve inspired many millions of keen followers with his sincere passion for animal health, especially wildlife welfare, his family and his humour.

Steve changed my attitude to protecting our wildlife. Many a time I will shed a tear when I see an animal hurt or killed without reason. A funny thing, but I now talk to the animals and make an attempt to save their life. In this photograph, taken Clontarf Boat Ramp 9th August 2010, you will see a hook in the Pelicans neck. I spent some time with the Pelican Rescue Group trying to snare the pelican so the hook could be removed and treatment to the wound. We could not catch him and another attempt is being made. I keep an eye out for him and supply photos to the Rescue group who can monitor the wound.
