English: Clondahorkey Old Church, Kill Note the Google maps here are useless. Please refer to OSI Discovery Series Sheet 2 from which all accurate grid references have been made.
Ruined church in the parish of Kill, just south of Dunfanaghy. Clondahorkey was a Catholic Church up to the 17th century, then Protestant, until it fell into disuse in the mid-18th century. There are three graveyards side-by-side: both Catholic and Protestant with a paupers graveyard between (mainly conatining the bodies of those who died during the famine). The small famine graveyard also contains the bodies of Scottish fishermen lost in the great disaster of 1818. |
