Summary
[edit]DescriptionClogher Head, Toran survey station - geograph.org.uk - 259504.jpg |
English: Clogher Head: Toran survey station Two different eras of surveying methodology are shown here. The concrete pillar is a Toran survey station established by the French company CGG (Compagnie Générale de Géophysique) in 1976, almost certainly for use in offshore oil exploration ship positioning by use of radio waves. On top of the pillar is my Garmin eTrex Vista GPS receiver. And for those who need to know, the Irish Grid co-ordinates from the receiver were Easting 30956, Northing 102681. |
