Summary
[edit]DescriptionClive Cottages - geograph.org.uk - 1177740.jpg |
English: Clive Cottages A row of mid 19th century cottages on Dinham, below Whitcliffe. The name is reference to the Hon R H Clive, of nearby Oakly Park. Robert Clive was the local MP from 1818 to 1854, and was the second son of Edward Clive, 1st Earl of Powis, who in turn was the eldest son of Clive of India. It was through Robert's marriage to Lady Harriet, sister of the issueless 6th Earl of Plymouth, that Oakly Park became the seat of the Earls of Plymouth.
The cottages are grade II listed - for listing particulars see http://www.heritagegateway.org.uk/Gateway/Results_Single.aspx?uid=390077&resourceID=5.
