Description
English: The Clipsham Yew Tree Avenue — the 'First Moon Landing Yew' topiary.
  • Located in the avenue (landscape allée) (see [SK9816]) of Clipsham Hall Park, near Clipsham, Rutland.
  • This particular trimmed Yew tree—Taxus baccata topiary has a foliage relief to commemorate the first landing on the moon in 1969. The initials NA (for Neil Armstrong) can be seen, as well as an outline of a spaceman holing a flag on a crescent moon.
  • The adult woman standing next to the tree gives a good idea of how large these yews are.
