Title
Clipped silver coin possibly middle eastern
Description
English: This is a copper alloy coin of al- Nasir al-Din Muhammad, Mamluk Sultan of Egypt and Syria. It dates to his third reign (709-741 AH/ 1310-1341 AD), probably mint of Damascus, date probably 730AH/ 1329/30 AD. The obverse reads: 'al-malik a[l-nasir]' with curving ornamental design below (and above). The reverse consists of a five petalled rosette. The surviving inscription around this reads: 'Dar[b bi...........] thalthin' ie 'struck in ............... 30'. Many Middle Eastern coins are found in Britain, and were probably bought back from the Holy Land by crusaders or pilgrims throughout the Medieval period.

The diameter is 17mm and the weight 2.51g.
