THE URETHROSCOPE 6j The lantern (a) contains a small Edison lamp, mountedon a cylindrical movable socket (b), and a lens, by which therays of light are reflected along a metal tube (h) passed intothe urethra. The light in this instrument, it will be observed, is placedwithout the body. Several attempts have been made toilluminate the canal by means of lamps passed inside theurethra, but hitherto without much success.
