English: Notes in inventory: Summit of Mount Tacoma. Columbia Crest, the highest point on the Mountain. Gus Callson, Olof Bull, J.C. Dillow, G.E. Clom[illeg.], H.B. De[illeg.], R.C. New[illeg.]. A.H. Waite Columbia Crest is the highest and most easterly of the three peaks at the summit of Mt. Rainier, elevation 14,411.1 feet on the rim of a crater which is 1,200 feet in diameter. The name was chosen by a vote of a party led by Maj. E. S. Ingraham. in 1891. It was considered appropriate for what then was thought the highest point in the U.S. Alternate names which have been used are The Dome, Crater Peak, and Peak Success. Gus Callson was a tailor for the firm of Hirsch & Frank in Tacoma. Olof Bull was a violinist and music director of the Tacoma Theatre. Joseph C. Dillow was a lawyer in Tacoma. PH Coll 291.218
