| Description | The Enoch T. Carson Masonic Lodge is a Mediterranean/Spanish Revival-style structure on Jefferson Avenue in Cincinnati's Clifton neighborhood. Constructed sometime in the 1920s, 1930s, or 1940s, judging by the windows on the second floor of the front facade, this building features a classical-style entryway, detailed cornice on the front part of the building, and heavy use of ceramic tiles and details around the windows and on the facade, likely made by the local Rookwood pottery company. The building was named for Enoch Terry Carson, a prominent Freemason from Cheviot, Ohio, who lived from 1822-1899 and was the Collector of the Port of Cincinnati and the US Depository in 1861, and was the Deputy of the Supreme Council (of the Freemasons) of Ohio from 1867 until 1899. As a result of his accomplishments within the organization and in civic life, this Lodge was named for him at some point after his death. |
