English: Cliffside Burial. Kete Kesu Village, Tana Toraja
This display illustrates the explicitly boat-like form of the Toraja coffins; bones are arranged within its hollowed-out interior. The sides of this coffin are decorated with a snake-in-clouds motif. It is hard to determine the date of this object, but it is probably quite recent, since wooden artifacts disintegrate quickly at these latitudes. |
