Summary
[edit]DescriptionCliffs east of Cuddle - geograph.org.uk - 768923.jpg |
English: Cliffs east of Cuddle This un-named bay curves from this point to the Yellow Ledge headland at Cuddle. The strata dip down from west to east (towards the viewpoint). The olive-coloured Rope Lake Head dolomite bed shows up clearly against the grey shale. A few metres below it is the blackstone (oil shale) bed that was mined in the 19th century. In this bay it is about mid-way up the cliff face, making it fairly inaccessible, although some was mined at the end of the hanging valley further towards Cuddle. The beach below is only accessible on foot by walking east from Kimmeridge Bay, and at high tide it is cut off at the Cuddle headland. |
