Summary
[edit]DescriptionClever traditional Afghan irrigation canals.jpg |
I've said it before, I'll say it again. The irrigation systems here are amazing. This picture shows a hand made irrigation system that cuts through a stone cliff and hugs it around the side. The irrigation eventually works it's way around and feeds a series of fields on the other side of the cliff. This was all done by hand, and the control systems are mud brick, rock, or just plain mud. The water flow you see coming out of the irrigation system is overflow, the river is very full right now because of spring melts. |
