Description

Looking northeast from Public Square. The Case Block is seen with stiped window awnings. Several carriages are parked in the street, and a woman can be seen under the second doorway awning, lettered John Flinn. A drugstore occupies the far western corner of the building. From 1875 to 1916 Cleveland's City hall was located in the Case Block, a large building at Superior and East 3rd. The City sublet excess space in the building for retail stores on the ground floor, for artist studios on the top floor, and to the Cleveland Public Library from 1875 to 1879. The Case Block was built around 1865 and demolished in 1916.
