Title |
Clay pipe fragment |
||
Description |
English: An incomplete Post-Medieval clay pipe, dating to AD 1670 - 1710. Most of the bowl and stem are missing. The stem is oval shaped and has a circular hole in its centre. The stem flares out into the bowl, most of which is missing. The heel of the pipe is stamped with a heart, inside are the raised initals of IM, which possibly can be attributed to John Mandifield, a maker in Sherbourne. Watkins (1966) Clay Tobacco Pipes found in Dorset, p 227 fig 11 no 4. |
