Description Taken some time during the late 1980s, an unidentified Class 86 electric locomotive backs onto its carriages at Norwich ready to work a service to London Liverpool St. Electric trains had reached Norwich in 1987, and so the 86s were still 'new kids on the block' at this time. After a couple of years the London services went over to 'push-pull' operation with an 86 at the London end and a Driving Brake Second Open (DBSO) at the country end. But at the time this photo was taken a new loco was attached to each service, with the loco which had just arived being uncoupled from its train ready to work the next hour's service. At Norwich the loco would be stabled in a headshunt just outside the station, immediately to the west of the Clarence Road Bridge.
