[edit]DescriptionClark Family Collection- Volume 1. Voorhis Journal No. 1, April 7-July 3, 1805.jpg |
English: Hard bound journal: red leather over pressed board with a metal clasp of which the rear portion is broken off and missing. Paper is off-white laid paper and inks are both iron gall and oak gall with a scattering of other watercolors present in drawings. Voorhis Journal No. 1 begins April 7, 1805, almost one year after the explorers' departure. The party left their winter quarters, called Fort Mandan, and continued west along the Missouri River. By June they encountered the Great Falls of the Missouri and initiated plans for an 18-mile portage. Title: Clark Family Collection: Volume 1. Voorhis Journal No. 1, April 7-July 3, 1805 |
