Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Cassini map (18th century), detail, published 1766-1768. Centred on Clamecy and Bethléem next to Clamecy, all in the present Nièvre departement. Bethléem is mentionned as "évêché" = bishopric: it is the old bishopric of Bethleem in Palestine, transferred here after the crusaders, beaten by Saladine, left that country. The town of Clamecy is on the left bank of the Yonne river, Bethléem on the right bank.
