Today we got a lesson on our enemy, the clam shrimp. Clam shrimp thrive in areas that have water seasonally, like ditches and our earth ponds. The shrimp compete with zooplankton (which our fish need to eat) and clog up our screens and nets. Oklahoma State University grad student Bill Mausbach collected clam shrimp samples, which will be used in a study on how we can control the pests. This image shows how he collected them and how numerous they really are. Photo Credit: Spencer Neuharth / USFWS |
