Description

Clams taken from Georges Bank are stored in individual cages. Clams from each section are sampled for safety by FDA-trained fishermen out at sea, and again by state officials when they reach land.

Fishermen trained by FDA scientists are performing sophisticated lab tests on clams while far out to sea -- a novel approach that has allowed the reopening of thousands of miles of ocean to clamming off the coast of New England. Read the FDA Consumer Update to learn more:
