Claiborne Kenedy, Palouse, Washington, circa 1900
Description
Caliborne Kenedy was postmaster at Palouse for several years around the turn of the century. He was known as "Peg-leg" Kenedy due to a woods accident suffered when he was a young man. To save his life his leg was amputated just below the knee without benefit of either physician or anesthetic. Mr. Kenedy came to Whitman County with his parents in 1876. His father, Wm Kenedy, founded one of the early blacksmith shops in Colfax, Washington. Names: Kenedy, Claiborne
