Cladoselache fyleri (Newberry, 1889) - fossil shark from the Devonian of Ohio, USA. (CMC VP7204, Cincinnati Museum of Natural History & Science, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA) From museum signage: An early shark (Cladoselache fyleri) The Upper Devonian Ohio Shale is internationally famous for the exquisitely-preserved vertebrates that it contains. Here, an early shark is preserved from snout to tail, showing the top of the head, the two pectoral fins with their supporting cartilaginous rays, a dorsal fin, and the complete body outline. Contained in the body of the shark are the remains of its last meal - the shiny rhomboidal scales of a paleoniscoid fish.
